EqualLogic

De arrays van EqualLogic zijn gebaseerd op de iSCSI technologie. Deze technologie laat het toe om gebruik te maken van standaard netwerkkaarten en IP infrastructuur. Dit is aanzienlijk goedkoper dan de dure fiber channel verbindingen van de traditionele SAN's.

EqualLogic maakt in haar systemen gebruik van Enterprise drives van het type Near Line SAS. De Near Line SAS drives hebben in de geavanceerde netwerk storage systemen een goede prijs performance verhouding.
De SAS drives, zijn leverbaar met zowel 10.000 RPM als met 15.000 RPM, hebben een hoge performance en zijn uitermate geschikt voor die omgevingen waar hoge performance noodzakelijk is.

Solid State Disks

Naast SATA en SAS maakt Equallogic gebruik van Solid State Disks (SSD) met lage latentie en hoge I/O performance tot 3x de IO rate/sec van 15K SAS drives.

Virtualisatie

Server virtualisatie via VMware, Xen of Hyper V verhoogd de beschikbaarheid en vereenvoudigd het beheer. Een virtuele infrastructuur vereist centrale storage (SAN). EqualLogic biedt virtuele storage die perfect aansluit op VMware. De combinatie van bv VMware en EqualLogic zorgt voor een vereenvoudiging van het beheer en een besparing van de operationele kosten.

The new PS6100XS/PS6110XS:

The PS6100XS is an intelligent storage array that provides rapid installation, simple management, and seamless expansion. All PS Series storage arrays include SAN configuration features and capabilities that sense network topology, automatically build RAID sets, and conduct system health checks to help ensure that all components are fully functional.

The PS6100XS reinforces the EqualLogic principles of intelligence, automation and scalable performance, with the addition of optimized data response for your applications through intelligent data tiering. Using a combination of low-latency SSD and performance oriented SAS drives the PS6100XS automatically places data on the appropriate disk technology using historical I/O and performance patterns and helps optimize data response for your applications while maximizing efficiency. The ability to sense and intelligently respond to data requirements is a valuable feature for applications like virtual desktops that can benefit from low-latency SSD during desktop initialization (i.e. Bootstorm) and often require cost effective, performance-oriented storage for user data files.

The new FS7500:

The Dell EqualLogic FS7500 adds Network-attached storage (NAS) capability to the EqualLogic product line to provide a high performance, scalable, unified storage solution. The FS7500 is powered by the Dell Scalable File System, Dell’s high-performance, clustered, and network-accessible file system. Dual active-active controllers, redundant power supplies and fans, and battery-backed cache make the FS7500 an ideal solution for NAS deployments requiring high availability and high reliability.

The FS7500 extends the EqualLogic architecture to provide an integrated unified storage architecture compatible with all existing EqualLogic iSCSI arrays. All block and file data are stored on the backend EqualLogic PS Series group. File services are provided by the FS7500 through industry-standard CIFS/SMB and NFS protocols over standard Ethernet interfaces. Storage administrators may scale a single file share up to the capacity of the EqualLogic deployment and manage the unified storage infrastructure through a single interface.

The FS7500 fully supports classic EqualLogic family values, including pay as you grow scalability, ease-of-use and all-inclusive software licensing. File services performance can be seamlessly expanded on the fly by scaling out, i.e., adding an additional FS7500 NAS head into the EqualLogic group, without disrupting the storage system or applications. Management of the FS7500 is integrated directly into the EqualLogic Group Manager to improve productivity, making it easy to configure and manage iSCSI, CIFS and NFS storage.
